Step-by-Step Instructions for Completing the Application

Purple Pathway for Paraeducators

Follow these steps when completing the UNI application for admission.

  1. Navigate to https://java.access.uni.edu/ApplyUNI/p/welcome#/
  2. If you have applied to or attended UNI in the past, log in as a Returning User using your existing CatID login. If you don’t remember your passphrase, please call (319) 273-5555 to reset. (Skip to Step 5)
  3. If you have not applied to or attended UNI in the past, click Create Account under New User. In order to apply you will need to create a CatID. The CatID consists of your username and your passphrase. Complete the required fields, paying careful attention to remember your passphrase, and watch for the confirmation screen that will assign your username.

  4. The confirmation page will provide the username and provide a button to continue the application.
  5. Choose Start your Application.
  6. If you have earned an associate’s degree, but not a bachelor’s degree, complete the next screen like below. (Skip to Step 8)

  7. If you have earned a bachelor’s degree, complete the next screen like below.

  8. Select Online/Distance Education Student and then select Elementary Education - Purple Pathway for Paraeducators in the Major field. Select the Fall 2024 term. If you are a current paraeducator, click the checkbox next to “I am an employed paraeducator…” and enter your school information.
  9. Continue through the pages completing the required fields.
  10. On the final tab “Review Application” – affirm your answers by typing your name and submit application.
