The Office of Online & Distance Education offers an array of Quality Matters online course design professional development for UNI faculty and staff. From workshops for faculty interested in converting an existing course to a fully online course within Blackboard, to tutorials for instructors wanting to refresh their knowledge and skills, to experienced online instructors who wish to become a Peer Reviewer. All online courses are expected to have undergone a comprehensive QM review or meet QM Course Design Essentials standards.

QM Comprehensive Course Design Workshop
Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) / Designing Your Online Course (DYOC)
This two-day workshop is comprised of two foundation component workshops. The first, APPQMR, is QM's flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and the application of the rubric to online courses. The second component, DYOC, focuses on learning objectives and overall course alignment.
It is intended for a broad audience, including, but not limited to, faculty, instructional designers, administrators, and adjunct instructors. It is particularly helpful to those new to QM.
QM Course Design Essentials - Tutorial
This self-guided tutorial contains four video walkthroughs and a curated selection of documents and resources. The emphasis in QM Course Design Essentials is placed on high-impact elements in QM General Standards 1, 2, and 5, which focus on research-based standards of best practice in developing a Course Introduction and Overview, Learning Objectives (Competencies), and Learner Activities/Learner Interaction.
This tutorial is designed for faculty members with a range of experience teaching online, including those new to developing and teaching online or blended courses.
QM Peer Review Certification (PRC) Course
Designed to prepare experienced online faculty to become QM-Certified Peer Reviewers, the PRC includes a review of foundational principles of QM and the QM Rubric.
Recommended for faculty, staff, or administrators who have completed APPQMR and who wish to learn more about becoming a Peer Reviewer.
