Diverse Course Options and Rotations

This program has a flexible set of program requirements. All students will complete a course in historical methods and a series of topics courses, repeated with different topics and different areas of emphasis ranging from U.S. history to world history to comparative history. Successful degree candidates will submit a professional portfolio of completed work and pass an oral defense to complete the program. All courses are 3 units of credit, and students can complete their degree in as few as 5 terms, including optional winter and summer sessions:

FALL 1 (Odd Year)  

  • History: Theory and Practice
  • Readings in History (U.S. Topic)

WINTER 1 (Odd Year) 

  • History Workshop (World Topic)

SPRING 1 (Even Year)

  • Readings in History (Comparative/U.S. Topic)
  • History Workshop (World Topic)

SUMMER 1 (Even Year) 

  • History Workshop (U.S. Topic) – June 
  • Readings in History (World Topic) – July

FALL 2 (Odd Year) 

  • Readings in History (U.S. Topic) 
  • History Workshop (World/Comparative Topic)

This streamlined sequence offers flexibility while accelerating your path to degree completion. Alternatively, you can opt to spread courses over future
fall and spring terms for a more traditional schedule.
